Sabbatical Leave for BSNL Executives approved by BSNL Management Committee:

Good News: It is to inform that the long awaited proposal by SNEA for Sabbatical leave for BSNL Executives is approved in the meeting of BSNL Management Committee held on 19/02/2026.

SNEA has submitted this proposal in 2024 and since then the same has been discussed in all Formal agenda meetings with Director HR, who has always assured positively for its consideration. 

In the formal agenda meeting held on 06/05/2025, Director HR has principally accepted the proposal by SNEA for sabbatical leave and directed Estt Cell to study the same and update him suitably. 

Since then, this issue was vigorously pursued by SNEA in formal agenda meetings as well as informal meetings with all concerned including CMD BSNL, who was kind enough to give consent to this proposal saving BSNL Money as well as giving relief to BSNL Executives.

In the last formal agenda meeting dated 04/11/2025, this issue was again raised by SNEA and was informed by Director HR that Committee has been constituted for the same has submitted its report which is being legally vetted by Legal Team of BSNL and thereafter the proposal will be moved for approval of MC. Director HR has firmly assured approval of sabbatical leave for all executives.

It’s nice to see that by keeping the words the said proposal of Sabbatical Leave has been approved by the Management Committee and now this proposal will be put up before the BSNL Board for final approval and then it will be available for BSNL Executives.

This Sabbatical Leave is similar to that already available in MTNL and now it will be available for all executives serving in BSNL with age less than 58 years a minimum six months to maximum five years period in one stretch, a three year cooling period will be there between to Sabbatical Leaves, Maximum 15 years Sabbatical Leave in entire service length.

On final approval of this proposal, the executives who are willing to complete higher education, any technical/ administrative course/training or personal work and even ascertain better career opportunities as per his/her wish. 

SNEA conveys sincere thanks and gratitude to Shri. A. Robert J. Ravi, CMD BSNL, Dr. Kalyan Sagar Nippani, Director HR and all other respected Director of BSNL Board, Shri. S. P. Singh, PGM Estt and other Members of the Committee Constituted for the same along with all concerned officers in Estt section for kind consideration of this proposal giving some relief to the executives   

This is one step forward for resolution of some HR issues in this most difficult situation.

In the similar manner, SNEA is pursuing the other long pending demands of BSNL Executives and we are hopeful for resolution of certain HR issues in the pipeline.
